Bertie man kUled Accident claims life, injures more BY LESLIE BEACHBOARD Bertie Ledger-Advance Two individuals lost their lives in an early morning house fire. The call came in to the Bertie County Sheriff’s Of fice around 1:30 a.m. about a two-story house fire at 1831 Charles Taylor Road. Deputies were called in about a half hour later when two bodies were discovered inside the home. Lewiston, Aulander and Windsor Fire Departments responded to the fire. The Bertie County Sher iff’s Office has not released the names of the victims. Investigators are waiting on pathology reports to deter mine the cause of death. TRAP - Bertie County roads claimed another victim this weekend. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, an indi vidual died after a two- car automobile accident on Saturday. David Perry and Larry Grandberry, both of Col erain, were occupants of a gold Mercury trav eling west on Nowell Farm Road. The vehicle ran off the right side of the road and the driver overcor rected to the left. The Mercury was T- boned by a Toyota trav eling east that was being driven by Willie Rob bins. He and passenger, Frances Bazemore, are both of Colerain. After the impact, the Mercury went off the road to the left, hit a ditch and the over turned. The Toyota came to rest in the road way. Windsor Police Chief Todd Lane said his offi cers stopped a vehicle, and the discovery of two ounces of marijua na led to those charges. According to Chief Lane, Windsor Police Officer Jessie Mizelle was patrolling when he observed a Toyota trav eling on King Street with an expired registration plate.
